Having the right gear made my first lessons much smoother. Here’s what I actually used:
1. Helmet
Lightweight, adjustable, and kept me protected through every wobble.
2. Boots
Safe, comfortable, and gave me the grip needed for the stirrups.
3. Gloves
Protected hands from blisters and improved grip on the reins.
4. Clothing:
Comfortable pants or breeches and a fitted top for easy movement.
Pro Tip: Renting helmets or boots at a riding school works fine at first, but having your own gear improves confidence and comfort.
