Hitting the Slopes for the First Time.
I’ll never forget my first ski lesson: wobbling down the bunny hill, poles flying everywhere, and my instructor trying not to laugh. Skiing is intimidating at first, but it’s also ridiculously fun once you get the basics right.
What to Expect on Your First Day:
Lessons are key: Start with a beginner instructor. Group or private lessons both work.
Safety first: Learn to fall safely, stop quickly, and control your skis.
Gear check: Make sure your boots fit snugly but not painfully, and that your skis are adjusted for your height and weight.
Body position: Slightly bent knees, lean forward, keep your weight centered.
Tip: Don’t rush to the advanced slopes. Focus on getting comfortable on easy terrain first.
Curious about what gear helped me survive my first day without walking off the slope bruised?

Begin with a beginner lesson to learn basics and safety. Wear layered clothing to stay warm and dry. Use well-fitted boots and skis. Practice stopping and turning on gentle slopes. Keep knees bent and gaze ahead. Take breaks, stay hydrated, be patient, and enjoy learning.
