✈️ The Day I Flew to Hamata — My First Kitesurfing Adventure Begins
The day of my flight to Hamata for my first-ever kitesurfing experience finally arrived. I was beyond excited — completely unaware of how little I had actually prepared. In my mind, I was just thrilled to tick kitesurfing off my bucket list.
If you know me, you already know that I thrive on new thrills and adventures. I’m always the first to say “yes” to whatever crazy idea or challenge comes up — and this one felt extra special.
I was traveling with a lovely group of people, and the energy was amazing. We laughed, cracked jokes, and shared our pre-adventure nerves. Luckily, I didn’t have any extra kitesurfing gear like kites or boards to worry about — just a medium suitcase and a small hand luggage that comfortably fit all my essentials for the 10-day stay in Hamata, Egypt.
We took off from Katowice Airport, Poland, since at the time, we couldn’t find any direct flights from Kraków to Marsa Alam International Airport (RMF). The flight took around four hours — quite a short one.
We landed in Egypt around midday, where transportation had already been arranged to pick us up from the airport and take us to the hotel in Hamata. The drive was about 2.5 hours (around 180 km) — quite a stretch through endless desert roads.
☀️ Pro tip: Bring cold drinks or water with you — the Egyptian heat can be brutal, even right after landing. There isn’t much to see along the way, just endless sand, cacti, and the occasional mirage shimmering in the distance.
The company you travel with really matters on a trip like this — and ours made the long drive feel lighthearted and fun.
When we finally arrived in Hamata, we checked in at the Kite Village Hamata Hotel — a large, beautiful place with professional and friendly staff. The best part? The team spoke multiple languages effortlessly. I could hear them switch between German, English, Polish, French, Spanish, and Arabic like true pros.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable — exactly what we needed after the long journey. Lunch was waiting for us, and after settling in, we gathered for our first meal together.
Day 1 was all about relaxing, settling in, and mentally preparing for what was to come — the start of a new adventure that I didn’t yet realize would change my life.
🌊 Stay tuned for Day 2 — my first kitesurfing lesson on the Red Sea, where excitement met reality (and a few spectacular wipeouts).
